Last month Sony revealed its new Xperia range of smartphones in India. While at the time only the top of the line Xperia S was available, today Phonemantra is reporting that the lower-end Xperia U is priced at only Rs 17,399 at online retailer Lets Buy and is expected to hit the Indian market by mid May.
This makes the device a very attractive purchase as Sony has packed in quite a bit in this handsome device. Apart from flaunting the transparent element and monolithic design language like its elder Xperia sibling, the Xperia U also rocks a dual-core chip clocked at 1GHz. We also get 512MB of RAM, a 3.5-inch LED Backlid LCD display with a resolution of 854×480 pixels powered by Sony’s BRAVIA engine tech and a 5-megapixel camera with 720 video.
Like all the new Xperia smartphones the Xperia U will ship with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but Sony says the device will get an Ice Cream Sandwich update pretty soon. On downside of the device is that it only houses 4GB of internal memory and does not feature a micro-SD expansion slot. Anyways checkout the device of the device below, it’s a darn good looker.
