The biggest gaming event, Electronic Entertainment Expo (2017), is currently underway at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The expo officially begins on June 13 and continues till June 15, but some companies have already held their pre-E3 conferences. Sunday witnessed press conferences from Microsoft, video game publisher Bethesda and Electronic Arts (EA). A lot happened at the first day of the E3 2017, and here’s a compiled list of all the exciting announcements made.
The highlight of the event so far was undoubtedly Microsoft’s new Xbox One X. Priced at $499 (Rs 32,200 approximately), the Xbox One X will be available starting November 7. The Xbox One X stands stronger than the dominant PlayStation 4 Pro and boasts capability of running games at 4K/60 frames per second. The Xbox One X packs an eight-core Custom AMD CPU clocked at 2.3GHz, a 6 teraflop GPU, 8GB of flash memory, 1TB of HHD internal storage and 12GB of GDDR5 video RAM.
In addition to unveiling the new Xbox, Microsoft showcased a total of 42 games, out of which 22 games are Xbox exclusive. These are a list of 4K games Microsoft announced which can be played on the 4K-ready Xbox One X — Forza Motorsport 7, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and Super Lucy’s Tale. Microsoft showed a peek into Assassin’s Creed: Origins which will be set in the world of ancient Egypt, a more detailed look at Middle-earth: Shadow of War and Anthem, which will release in fall 2018. Microsoft also unveiled a 4K resolution Minecraft which will arrive this fall. The 4K HDR experience of Minecraft will come as a free add-on but it will be optional. In addition to this, Minecraft has also received cross-platform capability and can now be played across iOS, Android, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Bethesda at E3 2017, announced that Elder Scrolls: Skyrim will get support on Nintendo Switch, the first-ever for a Nintendo console. The release date hasn’t been revealed yet. Fallout 4 and Doom will get completely playable VR mode and are set to release this fall. Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, a new standalone adventure will release on September 15 this year. More games to look forward to this year include The Evil Within 2, which will release on the ominous Friday the 13th of October. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, a sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order was showcased and will be set in the US in 1961 where you play against the Nazi regime.
EA showcased Star Wars: Battlefront II, which focused majorly on multiplayer, and will cover all eras of Star Wars. Two new games EA announced at the E3 2017 are Anthem and A Way Out. Bioware’s Anthem is a sci-fi game and its 52-second trailer shows characters suited up in massive armor. More details are said to be shared at the Microsoft press conference. EA showed the game play of Need for Speed: Payback which is set to release on November 10 this year. This series is being highly attributed to Fast and the Furious, and the trailer speaks for itself. EA also introduced a new LongShot game type to Madden 18 which adds a story feature to the game.
FIFA 18 is ‘Fuelled By Ronaldo’ this year, and the reveal trailer showcases the footballer’s killer skills as he makes his way to the goalpost. FIFA 18 will also have a story mode which can be played in co-op. NBA Live 18 also got a reveal trailer which shows street play infused with the NBA tournament and Kendrick Lamar’s DNA playing in the background.
