E3 is the biggest week in the world of gaming every year. While Microsoft, Electronics Arts, Bethesda, Sony and others introduced new games, Lenovo is bringing a fresh set of hardware to the gaming expo. The company introduced redesigned versions of its Legion series of gaming systems.

At E3 2018, Lenovo is introducing the new Y530, Y730 and Y7000 laptops, which bring design changes among other updates. It is also adding four new desktops to the mix in the form of T530 and T730 towers and C530 and C730 cube systems. One of the key things to note here is that Lenovo is going for subtle design elements as opposed to flashy RGBs seen on gaming systems from other mainstream players. It is a design choice that some will like while others will hate but Lenovo stands to pitch these as performance devices as opposed gaming systems to professionals.

The Lenovo Y530 is the entry-level model here and it will be exclusive to Best Buy in the US. The laptop is smaller than its predecessor and loses the red accent from its predecessor in favor of black casing that resembles the ThinkPad series.

In terms of specifications, the Lenovo Y530 features a 15.6-inch display with Full-HD resolution and option for a 60Hz or 144Hz panel. The laptop can be configured with 8th generation Intel Core i5 or Core i7 CPU and NVIDIA GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti GPU. The laptop comes standard with 32GB RAM And up to 512GB SSD or 2TB HDD and 52.5WHr battery.

Lenovo has moved most ports to the back of the device. The port selection includes one USB 3.1 Type-A on the right and left side each. At the back, there is one USB Type-C port, one Mini Display Port, one USB 3.1 Type A port, one RJ-45, DC-in and Kensington lock slot. The laptop is priced at $930 and will be available later this month.

While the Legion Y530 is exclusive to Best Buy, there is a variant called Y7000 which is basically the same device that will be available from other retailers. It costs $30 more than the Y530 and has a Y-logo on the lid that lights up. In terms of configuration, the Y7000 has same hardware like the Y530.

Lenovo Y730, on the other hand, is a more premium gaming notebook that comes in 15-inch and 17-inch models. Both the machines feature an all-aluminum casing and are equipped with customizable RGB keyboards using Corsair’s IQ software. The 15-inch model comes with a 1080p panel with option for 60Hz or 144Hz refresh rate. The 17-inch model also has a 1080p panel with option for 60Hz or 144Hz refresh rate.

Both the notebooks can be configured with overclockable 8th generation Intel Core i7-8750H or Core i5-8300H CPU. They are equipped NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU with 4GB of GDDR5 memory. Both the machines can be configured with up to 32GB RAM and 512GB SSD or 2TB HDD. The laptops feature one USB 3.1 Type-A, 3.5mm headphone jack on the left side while the right side is home to one USB 3.1 Type-A port. The rear houses one USB Type-C port, Mini DisplayPort, USB 3.1 Gen 2, HDMI and Ethernet port. The 15-inch model is backed by a 3 cell 57Whr battery while the 17-inch model gets a larger 4 cell 76Whr battery.
