The animated doodle features a revolving Earth, which also represents the letter O . The rest of the letters are static and feature other elements of our planet like Coral Reefs and Elephants. The year 2015 marks the 45th anniversary of the Earth Day, which has been celebrated since 1970. The movement was started by US senator Gaylord Nelson, after he witnessed a massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. The day is now celebrated in over 192 countries and hosted by the Earth Day Network. Its aim is to inform and energize the populations so they will act to secure a healthy future for themselves and their children.
