With the holiday season almost here, Google’s executive chairman Eric Schmidt is doing his bit to help people decide between an Android and an iPhone. In a 1000-odd word post on Google Plus, Schmidt writes how today’s Android phones are better than iPhones and also gives a step-by-step guide to transferring one’s data from an iPhone to an Android device.
“Many of my iPhone friends are converting to Android,” Schmidt writes in the post. “The latest high-end phones from Samsung (Galaxy S4), Motorola (Verizon Droid Ultra) and the Nexus 5 have better screens, are faster, and have a much more intuitive interface. They are a great Christmas present to an iPhone user!”
He even goes on to compare the experience of converting from an iPhone to Android to that from a PC to a Mac. “Like the people who moved from PCs to Macs and never switched back, you will switch from iPhone to Android and never switch back,” he writes.
Then follows a lengthy step-by-step guide on how to add a Google account, transfer contacts, sync apps, transfer photos and switch SIM cards from an iPhone to a new Android device. He concludes by advising people to switch to Google’s Chrome browser over Apple’s Safari, because “it’s safer and better in so many ways. And it’s free.”
