Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Matthew Cooper allowed nurse named Ellanora Baidoo to legally change her Facebook status to single and serve divorce papers via a Facebook private message. Also Read - Netflix could launch its video game streaming service next year, at no extra cost
Baidoo married Victor Sena Blood-Dzraku in 2009 but he reneged on his promise of having a traditional Ghananian wedding. The two had been living alone and never consummated their marriage. Baidoo doesn’t even know about his whereabouts. Also Read - You can now use WhatsApp web without your phone
Her lawyer will now send Blood-Dzraku the divorce papers over Facebook private messaging, the New York Daily News reports.
“I think it’s new law, and it’s necessary,” Baidoo’s lawyer, Andrew Spinnell told the publication.
