Facebook 360 video feature launched for web and Android users

Facebook has just launched a new feature to further its video content, and introduced 360 video. The company is rolling out the ability to watch and upload 360 degree videos to the News Feed to its users globally, after testing it on select pages. The 360 degree video feature allows users to upload and view videos taken by special 360 degree cameras, that capture footage from various POVs, instead of one POV seen on traditional cameras. With these videos, you can click and drag to see the video from various angles and perspectives, while it is playing on Facebook. On smartphones, you watch the video from different angles by dragging it with your finger or even just by turning the device.

Facebook tested the feature with videos from GoPro, Star Wars, Discovery, LeBron James & Uninterrupted, NBC s Saturday Night Live, and VICE pages, before commercially launching it.

The company has made this feature live for the desktop platform, and are rolling it out for Android users gradually via an OTA. For iOS users, Facebook has announced that it will roll the 360 video feature in the coming months.
