Barely a week after unveiling Facebook Home and the concept of Chat Heads for Android, Facebook today announced at D: Dive into Mobile conference that it will be bringing a few elements of Facebook Home to iOS. Of course, Apple’s restrictions on iOS ensure Facebook does not do a launcher but it has introduced a new version, Facebook 6.0 that brings Chat Heads among other features to iPhones and iPads. Chat Heads on iOS will work only within the Facebook app and users can move Chat Heads and continue to browse Facebook while chatting with multiple contacts. It also brings the concept of Stickers, which Facebook says will make chats livelier. For the iPad version, Chat Heads will be positioned vertically instead of horizontally. Of course, Apple’s sandboxing ensures users won’t be able to link their SMS inbox with Facebook Messenger. Also Read - Nothing Ear 1, the company's first product officially launched in India
The updated app will also let users choose from a variety of feeds including music, photos and games. There are also some feed design improvements that will make stories “brighter, more beautiful” to browse.
While the updated app is available on the App Store, Facebook says Chat Heads and Stickers will be rolled out gradually to users.
