Facebook’s security woes seem far from over as the company again wrote in its blog that another app misused user user data. Following the revelation of the Cambridge Analytica scandal where tens of millions of users had their data provided to Facebook misused, this may become the next big problem for the company.

The Facebook Analytica saw Facebook face the music with multiple governments in the US as well as European as well as Asian countries. And the newest app to be banned by Facebook is myPersonality. Facebook writes, “Today we banned myPersonality — an app that was mainly active prior to 2012 — from Facebook for failing to agree to our request to audit and because it’s clear that they shared information with researchers as well as companies with only limited protections in place.”

Facebook writes that these actions have led the app to misuse date provided by almost 4 million people to Facebook and myPersonality app. “Given we currently have no evidence that myPersonality accessed any friends’ information, we will not be notifying these people’s Facebook friends. Should that change, we will notify them,” elaborates Ime Archibong, VP of Product Partnerships at Facebook on the blog.

He goes on to explain that the social media platform has suspended over 400 apps since the devs started their investigation in March. These apps were suspended over concerns ‘around the developers who built them or how the information people chose to share with the app may have been used’, this Facebook is investigating in greater depth than before.

Facebook has also changed its policies, such as the expansion of the App Review and a new policy that information of the user that has not been used in 90 days will not be shared with apps.
