Mark Zuckerberg on Cambridge Analytica data breach

Mark Zuckerberg addressed the Cambridge Analytica data scandal five days after it was made public. He acknowledged that trusting Cambridge Analytica was a mistake and Facebook gave developers more power than required as far as handling user data is concerned. He detailed company’s plan to build a tool that will allow users to see if their information was compromised. Cambridge Analytica is believed to have gained access to user information of 50 million Facebook users, which it later used to build psychographic profile.

Zuckerberg also answered more pressing questions where he said that the platform is under attack from hackers who want to meddle with elections. He also said that he will appear before Congress and administrators if he is the right person to speak about the platform. However, Zuckerberg didn’t speak directly on whether Facebook is harming the community but added that #DeleteFacebook has not had a meaningful impact in user base so far.
