Earlier this evening many people had trouble accessing Facebook and Instagram. This was not the result of a third party attack but instead occurred after we introduced a change that affected our configuration systems. We moved quickly to fix the problem and both the services are back to 100% for everyone.
It was due to the Facebook outage the access to other apps wherein a Facebook login was required also failed miserably, however post the fix users were able to access all the apps that required a Facebook login. The outage caused a lot of uproar and people started trolling instantly. This entire ordeal makes us realize how social media platforms like Facebook have become a quintessential part of our lifestyles.
