Facebook celebrated its ten-year anniversary of News Feed with Mark Zuckerberg s nostalgia post on the social media platform. In the last 10 years, Facebook has made several improvements to the platform to make the users experience as interactive and convenient as possible. Of late it has started to focus on pushing content that are more relevant to users rather showing content from brands (Pages). Facebook is also trying make the platform more engaging and interactive. Now, Facebook is reportedly testing a new feature called What friends are talking about.” The feature seems to be aimed at getting people more engaged with their friends in conversations. First reported by Mashable, the feature seems to be available for select Facebook app for Android users. How the feature works is that Facebook collects posts from your friends and accumulates them after which they put it in a dedicated section on top of your News Feed. Among the posts updated by your friends, it also shows the activity going on each post which is the number of comments that your friends posts have received. The box in which the feature was shown is roughly the size of one image. Though there aren’t a lot of details about this feature, the algorithm could be based on the friends you interact with the most or with people with whom you have shared interests and likes.Since Facebook is still testing this feature, it is not certain when it will be available to everyone. There hasn’t been any official comment from Facebook regarding this so far.

Twitter’s new algorithm aims to make sure that you don t miss out on tweets which would supposedly be more relevant to you depending on the duration of logging out from Twitter and how many accounts you follow.
Facebook has been lately working to improve its News Feed . In order to make the platform more informative, Facebook began a new ranking signal to predict which news is most informative to you and accordingly they would appear on your feed. What they essentially do is have a team called the Feed Quality Program which survey stories and rank them on a scale of one to five. The stories are ranked on the basis of their importance of being as informative as possible. The stories selected are then compared with your personal relationship with the person or publisher and also an account of your interaction with the said story.
