Facebook has improved its friends lists feature by taking a leaf out of Google+’s play book. The world’s largest online social network with more than 750 million users at the last count always had a friends list feature but it was buried deep inside settings and was cumbersome to use. The new improved version has a feature called smart list that will automatically create lists like your school friends (those who have added where they did their schooling from), people from work, your city… Users will be able to add people to customized lists like close friends, family, acquaintances and restricted. Combined with Facebook’s new privacy features that were unveiled about a fortnight ago, it would make really simple for users to control who sees which updates. One major difference from Google+ Circles is that other people will be able to see who all are on the same list as them but they won’t be able to see the title of the list. Like I had said earlier, this isn’t the first time or the last time when Facebook or Google+ implement features inspired by the other. Both the networks will simply learn from each other and will continue to co-exist, attracting completely different set of users who will use either platform for completely different uses.
