As the world s largest social network, Facebook is used by billions of people across the globe on a daily basis. Majority of these users access Facebook on their smartphones, which is why its app can be just about every mobile device out there. But, as popular as it is, Facebook s official app is a major battery and resource hog, and doesn t exactly play well on lower-end hardware. For such users, the social networking major introduced Facebook Lite back in 2015. As the name suggests, Facebook Lite is targeted at developing markets where cellular networks aren t really that robust. The app provides an easy way to use some of Facebook s core features, sans the strain on the smartphone s resources. However, it s only been available on Android ever since it was launched. Well, not anymore. Facebook Lite is finally ready to make the jump to iOS. According to 9to5Mac, the social media company is currently testing a version of Facebook Lite for iPhones. As noted by the report, the app is just 5MB in size, consumes less data, and occupies less space than the primary Facebook app.
It s worth mentioning that the slimmed-down app is currently only available in Turkey. Once it has been properly tested and the bugs (if any) have been ironed out, Facebook Lite app will be made available to iOS users around the world.
