The iOS app was exclusive earlier only for the celebrities. According to the Verge, only high-profile public figures like actors, athletes, musicians and politicians were earlier permitted to stream live video to the users through the Mentions app. Also Read - What happens to your Facebook account after you die?

Vadim Lavrusik, the product manager for Mentions, said that they want to make Facebook a better experience for journalists whether it is used for news gathering or better connecting with their readers or to drive distribution to their content.
