Facebook has announced its overhauled version of Messenger app – Messenger 4 – today. The redesigned Facebook Messenger has been re-imaged with ‘simplicity’ in mind and based on users’ feedback. The company is calling it simplified version of Messenger.
The revamped Facebook Messenger will now have three tabs instead of nine. Facebook conducted a study where 7 out of 10 people categorized simplicity as their top priority. The new Messenger according to company is all about simpler and easier-to-use messaging.
The three new tabs in Messenger 4 will be – Chats, People and Discover. It will also have visual communication features like Camera at the top so you can easily capture and share your selfies. Interestingly in the ‘Discover tab’, users will be able to connect with businesses to get the latest deals, play Instant Games, book your next vacation, follow the news and more.
“While Messenger 4 is all about simpler and easier-to-use messaging, we’re still keeping all of the features that help you connect with the people you care about. Whether you want to poll your friends on which movie to see, split the bill for last night’s dinner, share your live location to find friends at a music festival, challenge them to your favorite games, or catch up in a group video chat, we aren’t changing anything about what you’ve always loved about Messenger,” noted Facebook.
Apart from the latest redesign, Facebook will also be introducing new features like Dark Mode in near future.
The new Facebook Messenger 4 has started rolling out today, but it will roll out in a phased manner. Facebook has noted that Messenger 4 will gradually roll out globally over the coming weeks.
