Facebook s Messenger platform has a variety of bots that users aren t really aware of. Earlier this year at Facebook s F8 conference, the social media giant unveiled Discover feature for bots on Messenger. This feature was later rolled out in the US but remained exclusive to the country. After almost five months, Discover feature has now started rolling out on Messenger in India. This feature is available for both iOS and Android. Discover feature not only lets you find and search for bots, but Pages as well. Discover feature will have a dedicated button at the bottom right corner of the app. Once you tap on the Discover button, Messenger will show bots by different categories, recently visited businesses, and featured experiences. The first section will feature Recently Used bots. This doesn t necessarily show only bots, but you can also see games that you ve played previously. For those who use bots frequently will see a more personalized Discover section. As for others, it ll be the most popular bots and businesses visible to the user.
Below this is the Featured section which includes different experiences available in Messenger. This section, Facebook says is to help people find bots and businesses to explore . The sections below have different categories for bots like Popular , Sport , Education , Entertainment , among others. Messenger bots essentially sends you updates from the respective businesses. For example, if you subscribe to a news publication bot, it will regularly send the latest news on Messenger. These news pieces also come with the share option for further distribution.
