Facebook has announced that it’s testing a new feature to help users control what they see on their news feeds. This new feature is called Keyword Snooze and it does what it says by allowing users to snooze keywords from their news feeds. This means that if you want to ensure that you don t see any post that mentions a particular keyword, for example, it will hide anything about the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp movie including any potential spoilers if you add the name of the movie in the keywords to snooze. This would obviously mean that you will not be able to see the posts of your friends who will watch the movie but better that than any spoilers. This would apply to any latest episodes of TV shows and other stuff. Shruthi Muraleedharan, News Feed Product Manager at Facebook added that the option is located in the upper right-hand menu of the post in the News Feed. The keywords are pulled directly from the text in the posts and any post with that exact keyword or phrase will not be visible for 30 days. Shruthi went on to add that even though Facebook is working at showing more relevant posts on News Feed but the company does not always get it right. Snooze Keyword joins the existing features that include See First , Hide , Unfollow , and Snooze to help users take control of their news feed. This is not to be confused by the current Snooze feature that allows users to snooze posts from certain users.
This new feature comes right after Facebook announced that it is shutting down its drone project Aquila that was meant to beam internet in remote, hard to reach areas. This was meant to connect users with the help of high-flying drones that were powered by solar power.
