Yesterday we reported that Apple could be planning to release a 128GB variant of the fourth generation iPad, and today 9to5Mac is reporting it has received unverified images of a casing that might don the fifth generation iPad. The images depict the exterior and the innards of the casing and the looks very similar to one seen on the iPad mini. Of course its not easy to verify these images because stretching the design of the iPad mini to fit the 9.7-inch design of the larger iPad can be done pretty easily on Photoshop. Also Read - macOS Monterey now available: How to download, new features, more
But there are some elements to the image that make us wonder if it really is the real deal. For instance there is the black plastic plate on the back that normally houses the 3G/4G antenna in the cellular models.
Previously, there have been reports that have suggested an October launch for the iPad rather than a March launch for the product like we have seen for the iPad 2 and the third generation iPad.
Plus the fact that there is a possibility that Apple may release an upgraded fourth generation iPad with 128GB of storage could infer that the product is doing pretty well and Apple wants to extend its shelf life till an October release.
Now, we generally don t get leaked images of Apple s products this early, but one has to remember the iPhone 5 was an exception to the norm. Either ways, this could be the image of the real deal.
Additionally, it s worth noting last year Apple literally launched its entire product line in the span of 1.5 months between September and October. Perhaps, Apple feels it can make more cash by launching its new products closer to the American holiday season.
