Flipkart hosted its first Big Billion Day sale last year, and in just 10 hours and garnered sales totaling $100 million. Unlike last year s sale however, this year the sale is not only a five day event, but it will also be restricted to the Flipkart app. Also Read - Flipkart Big Saving Days smartphone deals: Pixel 4a is star of the show once again
Flipkart says that the sale will have discounts across categories like mobiles, laptops, toys, large appliances, jewelry, watches, and furniture among others. Flipkart-owned Myntra too will be participating in the sale and will be presenting a curated selection from iconic fashion brands .
India shops the most during this time of the year. With over 75 percent of traffic coming via mobile, we expect this app only sale to be the biggest shopping event of the year. Bigger and better as compared to last year, we have worked towards ensuring a seamless shopping experience for our customers, Head of Commerce Platform, Flipkart & Chairman Myntra, Mukesh Bansal said.
The first sale may have been a huge hit for the company, but buyers experience was anything but smooth. Those looking to get their hands on discounted products were faced with issues ranging from crashing website, error messages and payment issues. Flipkart is said to have taken steps to avoid a repeat of such a scenario. The e-commerce company has a dedicated team to ensure such a thing doesn t repeat, and Bansal reaffirms the company s commitment.
We have ramped up our technology and supply chain support to ensure all our 50 million customers have the best ever mobile shopping experience. In fact, to cater to the massive customer demand; we have opened new fulfillment centers across the country to guarantee efficient delivery, Bansal said.
Flipkart s big sale kicks off in time when many start their annual Diwali shopping. It would however be interesting to see how buyers react to the sale being an app-only event.
