Big Billion Days Sale: Flipkart creates new record by selling 1 million phones in an hour, over 3 million in a day

Flipkart has sold the highest number of smartphones in a day in India.

If you’ve read the newspapers over the past couple of days, or have been tracking the online space, you are likely to be aware that both Flipkart and Amazon India are hosting their respective sales. Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale has gathered a lot of attention, especially due to the sheer number of deals and discounts the e-commerce portal is offering across segments.

Smartphones, being one of the hottest selling products, you can find interesting discounts right from entry-level devices, to the high-end ones, such as the Apple iPhone X. The sale commenced yesterday (October 10) and will go on till October 14. Now, BGR India has learned that Flipkart has set a record with the latest edition of Big Billion Days Sale.

Flipkart has managed to sell 1 million phones in an hour, and over 3 million phones in a day, which is a record by the e-commerce portal across the entire mobile retail market in India. That’s not all, it is also the highest number of smartphones sold in a day in India. For context, Flipkart has around 85 to 90 percent of the overall smartphone market, which includes brands like Realme, Xiaomi, Samsung, Nokia, Asus, Infinix and Honor.

Talking about some of the best deals – the Samsung Galaxy S8 which is usually priced around Rs 45,000 is available for just Rs 29,990, which is a steal deal for someone who wants a flagship power packed smartphone. Then there is Asus Zenfone 5Z, which starts at Rs 29,999, and goes all the way up to Rs 36,999. The company is offering flat Rs 5,000 off, which brings down the price of base variant to Rs 24,999 and the top-end variant comes down to Rs 31,999. There is also Honor 10, which was launched for Rs 29,999, and it is also getting Rs 5,000 upfront discount, bringing the price down to Rs 24,999.
