Flipkart crashes as Xiaomi Mi 3 goes on sale in India

Flipkart s website has gone down within 10 minutes of Xiaomi Mi 3 going on sale. Last night, Flipkart had announced that it had received 100,000 pre-registrations for the Mi 3 ahead of the sale. It seems the website hasn t been able to handle the sudden rush of people trying to book their unit. Also Read - India government drafts framework to combat fake reviews on e-commerce websites

The website seems to work normally until the moment you try to hit the payment button on the Mi 3 page. On hitting the payment button, the website crashes and throws up the above error image. Also Read - How to not get scammed when ordering phone or electronics from e-commerce platforms

This is not the first time that Flipkart s site has crashed on the day of a major launch. Earlier this year, the website crashed multiple times when the Motorola Moto G and the Motorola Moto E went on sale. It is surprising that Flipkart wasn t better prepared this time, considering the pre-registrations were a good indication of the kind of traffic the e-commerce site could have expected.
