Fortnite, one of the most popular Battle Royale game that has taken the world of gaming by storm in the last couple of months, is coming to Android soon. Epic Games, the developer of the game, has already launched the game for iOS-powered devices back in April as Android users wait for the game to arrive on the platform. In the meantime, the game has managed to earn a significant amount of revenue for Epic Games by amassing more than $100 million in just three months. Fortnite is one of the two major Battle Royale games that has captured the imagination of the gamers with the other one being its competitor PUBG Mobile.

PUBG Corp has already launched the game on both Android as well as iOS to take the lead when it comes to active users as well as revenue. It now seems that Android users won’t have to wait much longer. According to a recent report, Epic Games is planning to launch the Android version of the game at the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 launch. It is also likely that the game could be exclusive to Samsung Galaxy Note 9 for a time period of 30 days.

Fortnite ‘supported devices’

After the 30 days of exclusivity, the game will be available for all the supported Android devices. The reason we have mentioned “supported” Android devices is that this game is expected to demand a certain baseline when it comes to the hardware that will be needed to run the game without any issue.

This means that entry-level devices may not be able to run the game without any issues if they don’t have a bare minimum amount of RAM, processor, and a GPU. Considering this, Epic Games seem to have issued a list of devices that the game will support at launch. The list indicates that 40 games will support Fortnite at launch, and includes some mid-range devices alongside flagship smartphones.

List of supported devices

According to the list of supported smartphones, most of the devices to support this game are flagship smartphones or high-end smartphones by most companies. Some of the notable ones include Google Pixel 2, Huawei P10, Raze Phone, Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, and Sony Xperia XZ1. However, the list also includes mid-range devices such as the Moto E4 Plus, Samsung J series, Samsung A series, and Sony Xperia XA1 series. This means that apart from the most basic and entry-level smartphones, many affordable phones are also likely to support the game.

The complete list of supported devices at launch include, Google Pixel 2, Google Pixel 2 XL, Huawei Mate 10, Huawei Mate 10 Lite, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P10, Huawei P10 Plus, Huawei P10 Lite, Huawei P9, Huawei P9 Lite, Huawei P8 Lite (2017), LG G6, LG V30, LG V30+, Motorola Moto E4 Plus, Motorola Moto G5, Motorola Moto G5 Plus, Motorola Moto G5s, Motorola Moto Z2 Play, Nokia 6, Razer Phone, Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017), Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime (2017), Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro (2017), Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Samsung Galaxy On7 (2016), Samsung Galaxy S9, Samsung Galaxy S9+, Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung Galaxy S8+, Sony Xperia XA1, Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra, Sony Xperia XA1 Plus, Sony Xperia XZ, Sony Xperia XZs, and Sony Xperia XZ1.

It is likely that the company will expand this list of supported devices by the launch date.

After going through the devices in the support list, as pointed by XDA, it is likely that the minimum specifications for the game to run include chipsets such as the Snapdragon 430, MediaTek MT6737, Exynos 7870, or Kirin 655 in terms of processors, Adreno 505 or Mali-T720 in terms of the GPU, and 3GB RAM.
