Foxconn, which had recently also tied up with BlackBerry for producing mid-range smartphones for the latter, will be taking care of the hardware bit while Mozilla will be mainly responsible for the operating system based development guides, upgrades and maintenance.
With this partnership, while Foxconn is putting yet another step forward on the hardware business, Mozilla too is clearly gearing up to compete against Android OS. Last year, Mozilla had also joined hands with Samsung for working on rebuilding the web browser and had announced the Servo web browser for Android and ARM.
