CodLight has presented the cPulse, an LED-lit case designed to work with Android smartphones. The French start-up is currently seeking funding for the project on Kickstarter, where one of the first cases can be pre-ordered for $89. Compatible with any Android 4.4 KitKat smartphone, the cPulse aims to make LED lighting creative, social and of course mobile. Its panel of LEDs can be used to display notifications and to create unique lighting ambiances. Also Read - Xiaomi WalkingPad Mini Smart Treadmill to be available via Kickstarter at $499
The device comes with an app that can be used to program all of the different lighting features. “Lighting tracks” can be created automatically to the beat of users’ favorite songs, and the result can be shared and played simultaneously on multiple cPulses. Users can also opt to create their own lighting tracks from scratch. Also Read - Lucis Lamp: This wireless lamp is cool and disconnected
Drawing on the principles of light therapy, the cPulse can also be programmed to help its user wake up or get to sleep through progressive changes in the light’s brightness and color. Finally, the cPulse lets users choose the lighting effects that accompany notifications to their smartphone. Also Read - Mi Fan Festival: Xiaomi to bring 'crowdfunding' platform to India
The cPulse is also customizable, as it is 3D-printed in partnership with the websites Sculpteo.com and SketchFab.com. The main feature of the case is its panel of 128 high-efficiency LEDs. One hour of LED light from the case is estimated to consume around 7 percent of the average smartphone’s total battery capacity.
Several different levels of participation are offered on Kickstarter. Those who contribute at least $79 will receive a kit allowing them to 3D-print their own cPulse, and those who donate $89 or more will receive one of the first cPulses, which are expected to start shipping in early 2015.
