Social media has turned into real life for the millennials. Every bit of our lives is up there, we are in touch with everybody they like, everybody they admire, and somehow with ourselves too, through the social media platforms. For many of us, we have records of our entire life, all the little and big memories up there. Naturally, given the importance of social media in our lives, we work really hard to keep up with it. However, how much ever we are glued to the virtual world, we are still human and the real real life sometimes pops our bubble, and within that little friction of distraction you miss out on so much. But we are here to help you catch up! Also Read - Accidently broke Snapchat streak with friends? After Instagram blatantly went out to copy the Stories features, Snapchat had to bring in some updates, add some features to maintain its uniqueness. Right now, the one feature that makes Snapchat really stand apart from Instagram, is Snapchat s geofilters. The latest Snapchat update allows its users to customize their own geofilters. Just like the new geofilters update, there are a handful of features that Snapchat has recently rolled out. Here are five features you must know of to keep up with Snapchat. Although presently not available in India, geofilters are one of the most-awaited Snapchat features. It esse lets you create your own filters, add colors, change texts, anyway you like. These geofilters can be made in minutes and you no longer need to use Photoshop, Illustrator or any third-party software to create one. You can also choose themes from the list given by Snapchat and customize it accordingly.
So if you are having a party and you want to send in invites, you can go to the on-demand geofilter page on desktop, sign in with your username and password, and Snapchat will take you through the process of picking or submitting a design. Once that is done, and if your designs follow the guidelines, Snapchat approves them within one business day. Then all you need to do is take a nice picture, set in your customized geofilter and host the coolest party ever. Geofilters can be set for up to 30 days and at a 5-mile radius. However, you must note that these geofilters are paid for. According to Mashable, the pricing for the filters start at $5 for 30 minutes and 20,000 square feet but can go into the thousands of dollars depending on time and size.
One really cool feature recently added by Snapchat, which is also my favorite, is the motion-emoji. These motion emojis make Snapchat videos so much more fun. You can now add emoji stickers in a Snapchat video and make them move with the video. You can also change the size and orientation of those emojis. So imagine a video of a dog walking, and can now edit it by adding a crown emoji on its head. The emoji will remain on the dog’s head and move around as the dog moves in the video. Here s how you can do it.
Make a regular video on Snapchat, once you are done, choose an emoticon you want to place in the video and choose where you want to place it. After adding the emoticon, tap and hold on it, and you ll see Snapchat process it and it would automatically turn into a motion emoji. It s really cool, you have to try it. Scribble live in a video
Although this is a filter, it is one that you must really try out. Have you seen your friends send you videos with them scribbling or doodling on the video while the video plays? This is it! When you scroll through the Snapchat filters, you will see a blue filter with a pen on it. Choose that filter, and begin recording, and while you record the video, scribble whatever you want on the screen. So when you send the video across, it would look like they are watching you live.
Back up your Snapchat Stories
So many times I make these really nice Snapchat Stories, and then the next day when they are gone, I regret not saving them. But fret not, Snapchat actually lets you automatically save anything that you put up on the Story. To do so, all you need to do is tap on that little ghost in the middle of the Snapchat camera screen, go to Settings, where you will notice an option called Memories. Under Saving, toggle on Auto-save stories, which would automatically save all your Stories to Memories. Right atop theAuto-save Stories option, you will see a ‘Save to…’ option, tap on that and choose either Memories & Camera Roll (if you want you Stories to be saved on both Memories and in your phone) or Camera Roll (if you want them saved only on your phone), as per your wish. Share media and text while making a Snapchat call
Another interesting feature is the ability to share images, stickers and texts, while you are on a Snapchat video call. You don t really need any instruction on how to do it, when you are a video call on Snapchat, just tap on the image icon and send the picture you want, or type a text. Whatever image you send or text your write, briefly appear overlaid onto the video feed before fading out of view. However, you ll be able to see all the sticker, images or texts shared during the video in your chat, once you disconnect.
You are pretty much up to date with Snapchat now, go and make one hell of a Story!
