Last week went quite busy with smartphones launching in India, China and the US. We saw smartphones from companies like Xiaomi, Motorola, Gionee, and Meizu launching within a span of just one week. Starting from the budget segment with a price tag below Rs 5,000, these smartphone prices ranged up to Rs 39,000 approximately. Putting together all the launched from this week, here’s a list of all the new smartphones with their key specifications.
Meizu Pro 7, Pro 7 Plus
Starting from the top-end, the Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus were launched in China, with their highlight being a dual display. Both the smartphone variants feature a 2-inch Super AMOLED secondary display placed on the rear end of the device. On the front, the Meizu Pro 7 features a 5.2-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, while the Pro 7 Plus has a bigger 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display. The Meizu Pro 7 is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P25 SoC, and the Pro 7 Plus debuts the latest Helio X30 SoC. The smartphones differ in terms of memory too, as the Pro 7 comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage, and the Pro 7 Plus packs 6GB of RAM with 64GB and 128GB storage options.
For photography, both the Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus sport dual 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 cameras, and a 16-megapixel camera up front. The Pro 7 comes with a 3,000mAh battery, while the Pro 7 Plus has a bigger 3,500mAh battery. The Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus are currently available in China only and are priced at RMB 2,880 (Rs 27,500 approximately), and RMB 3,380 (Rs 32,300 approximately) respectively. Moto Z2 Force
This week, Motorola also launched a new smartphone in its modular Moto Z series, called the Moto Z2 Force. The smartphone was launched in the US, and there is no word on an India launch as yet. The Moto Z2 Force, like its predecessor, features a shatterproof display. The shatterproof protection is layered over a 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED display. It is powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 SoC and paired with 4GB of RAM. It further comes with 64GB of onboard storage, and has a water repellent nano-coating. The Moto Z2 Force also packs dual-camera setup with two 12-megapixel sensors on the back. Up front, it sports a 5-megapixel snapper with LED flash. Xiaomi Mi 5X
A China launch again, the Mi 5X is an affordable version of Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone, the Mi 6. One of the Mi 5X’s highlights is that it is the first smartphone to run MIUI 9, which is based on Android 7.0 Nougat. Another highlight is its dual rear camera setup, which is a pair of 12-megapixel cameras. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB expandable storage. Keeping the smartphone ticking is a 3,080mAh battery. Samsung Galaxy J7 Nxt
Samsung quietly launched a new smartphone this week in India, called the Galaxy J7 Nxt. It is listed on the company’s official website for Rs 11,490. Specifications wise, it comes with a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.6GHz octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM. It also has 16GB of onboard storage, which is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. For photography, it sports a 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash. Gionee A1 Plus
Successor to the A1, the A1 Plus comes with upgraded features and specifications. Priced at Rs 26,999, the Gionee A1 Plus’ USP is its dual rear cameras of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel. The smartphone also features a 20-megapixel front-facing camera. Another highlight of the A1 Plus is its massive 4,550mAh battery, which comes with extended support for Ultrafast charging. Remaining specifications include a 6-inch full HD display, Helio P25 SoC, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. On the software front, it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with Amigo 4 layered on top. YU Yunique 2
Micromax-backed YU’s latest smartphone is the Yunique 2 which was launched at Rs 5,999 earlier this week. The YU Yunique 2 flaunts a 5-inch HD display covered with Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. The smartphone comes with built-in support for 22 languages. At the core of the smartphone, runs a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor, paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. For photography, it features a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. For power, it uses a 2,500mAh battery, and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. Reliance Digital LYF C459
Cheapest of the lot, the Reliance Digital LYF C459 is priced at Rs 4,699 featuring a 4.5-inch FWVGA display with 2.5D Asahi Glass protection. The LYF C459 comes with a Snapdragon 210 SoC under its hood, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of expandable storage. The smartphone draws its juice from a 2,000mAh battery, and runs on the older Android 6.0 Marshmallow. In the camera department, it sports a 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front sensor.
