At its MWC 2017 launch event in Barcelona, Samsung launched two new devices, the Galaxy Tab S3 and Galaxy Book. And as promised, Samsung did have an update on the much awaited Galaxy S8. The company has announced that its next flagship smartphone will be showcased at its Unpacked event on March 29.

It’s worth pointing that Samsung traditionally launches its flagship at the MWC, but this year it chose to give the conference a miss in the wake of Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. Interestingly, the teaser shown at the MWC event is quite similar to recently leaked screenshot of the company’s sign up page. Along with the Galaxy S8 , the company is also expected to showcase a bigger variant of the smartphone, called the Galaxy S8+. Ahead of the official launch on March 29, quite a few details about the two smartphones have been leaked.

Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ Specifications and Features

While Samsung  tried to keep details about its new smartphone under the wraps, the leaks are still pouring. Based on what we know so far, the Galaxy S8 could sport a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display, whereas the Galaxy S8+ could flaunt a 6.2-inch display. Both are expected to be dual edge curved displays.

From the leaked photos, we can see that Samsung has done away with the physical home button on the front along with the capacitive touch buttons for navigation. The new smartphones will now feature on-screen Android navigation buttons. Only downside of the move is that the fingerprint sensor is relocated at the back, which does not seem to be very user-friendly. Under the hood, both smartphones are likely to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC or Samsung’s own Exynos 8895 SoC, depending on the region. The Galaxy S8 is expected to be paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The Galaxy S8+ on the other hand, could sport 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. ALSO READ: Galaxy S8 spotted on Samsung Secure Folder app, sort of

Just like the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, the new smartphones are also expected to feature a heart rate sensor, and water and dust resistance. What’s more, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ could also feature Bixby personal assistant, just like Google Assistant on Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. On the software front, both smartphones are likely to run on Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box with a layer of TouchWiz UI on top.
