In the run up to the event on August 9, we have come across numerous leaks around Samsung’s planned launches. Adding to that list is a new Galaxy Watch leak, which is courtesy of Samsung itself.
The upcoming Galaxy Watch was briefly listed on Samsung’s own website way ahead of an official launch. At the time of filing this story, the listing has been taken down, but not before being spotted by CNET. The upcoming smartwatch, with model number SM-R810NZDAXAR, was spotted on a comparison page next to the Gear S2. The model number is in line with what was spotted on a recent FCC listing.
The 42mm Galaxy Watch variant was spotted in Rose Gold color, and the name mentions Bluetooth in brackets. The smartwatch is expected to be available in LTE variant as well. While the Samsung website didn’t mention any details, recent leaks have given us a fair idea on what to expect.
Watch: Samsung Gear Sport and Fit Pro – Hands On
As seen in the above image, Samsung’s smartwatch will be retaining the circular watch face. It is expected to come in two sizes with displays measuring 1.19- and 1.3-inches. The smartwatch is likely to feature an Exynos 7 Dual 7270 chipset, and could also boast a blood-pressure monitor. Earlier reports hinted at the Galaxy Watch running Google’s Wear OS. But recent reports have debunked the rumors, claiming that it will instead run on Samsung’s own Tizen 4.0.
As mentioned, the Galaxy Watch is expected to be launched at Samsung’s Unpacked event on August 9 at New York. The watch will share the stage with the Galaxy Note 9 phablet, and potentially, Samsung’s first smart speaker dubbed Magbee.
