Mobile-gaming company Gameloft has reportedly shut down its India studio resulting in over 250 game developers being laid off, reports Gamasutra. The news came out on the day the company boasted of a 27 percent revenue growth in the previous year.

The report, citing anonymous sources, further states that the laid off employees were made to sign a letter which said that the resignations were voluntary and then abruptly asked to pack up and leave. An employee on the condition of anonymity said that none of them have signed the letter as it seemed ‘fishy’. The official website may not list the Hyderabad studio in their Contact Us section, but the main job of this studio was to port all the games Gameloft developed for iOS to the Android platforms.
Gameloft haven’t yet responded to our request for an official statement.
