Garmin has just launched a variant of its Vivoactive 3 wearable that adds support for a music player called Vivoactive 3 Music. The new wearable is the strongest competitor to Apple Watch Series 3 with support for local storage, fitness tracker and GPS. The Vivoactive 3 Music has been listed for $299.99, which is $50 premium over the price of regular model.

The Vivoactive 3 was first introduced in August last year and it competes with fitness trackers from the likes of Apple, Samsung and Fitbit. The Vivoactive 3 Music, on the other hand, brings all the key features found on the standard model including a touchscreen display with swipeable bezel, heart-rate sensor, Garmin Pay contactless payments system, stress and VO2 max fitness levels.

The fitness tracker is also supports phone notifications and third-party watch faces and apps like SmartThings and Uber. Since it is Garmin that we are talking about, the device also comes with built-in activity trackers. The Vivoactive 3 Music can store up to 500 songs that one can listen to via headphones paired over Bluetooth without the need for a connected smartphone.

Garmin says that Vivoactive 3 Music will let users download offline music playlists from iHeartRadio at launch and support for Deezer will be added soon. While having local music on your wrist is a great feature, the Vivoactive 3 Music misses out on major streaming platforms like Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music and Apple Music. However, you can go old school and transfer your favorite music directly to the watch and playback using Bluetooth headphones.

Garmin is the one of the leaders in the wearable space and it differentiates its devices on the basis of functionality. The Garmin Forerunner series is for hardcore users while the Vivoactive series is aimed at young audience that seeks design and convenience. The Vivoactive 3 also supports sleep tracking so you can wear them while going to bed.
