Google has released a new version 7.6 of its keyboard app – ‘Gboard’ on Google Play. The big highlight of the update is that you can now turn the Gboard into a floating keyboard which is movable and resizable too.

The changelog for Gboard V7.6 doesn’t mention new floating feature in the notes, but the feature is accessible inside the app after update. To use this feature first you need to update your Gboard app to the latest version if you haven’t, and then tap on the G icon at top left corner of keyboard. After this, a few options will appear including a ‘Floating’ option.

Once you’ve enabled the new ‘Floating’ option on Gboard, you’ll be able to place the keyboard anywhere on the screen with simple a drag. The keyboard can also be resized and you’ll be able to swipe type as well. Also, if you leave the Gboard untouched after enabling this mode, the keyboard turns translucent (about 50 percent opacity) and shows the content/app behind it.

In order to place the keyboard back to its original position, you can simply drag it to the bottom of the display and it’ll go back to default. The new Gboard floating feature was discovered by Android Police first. It noted that there are 47 additions to the list of languages and dialects from earlier version. The APK teardown also hints at upcoming Halloween GIFs and more languages.

The Gboard floating feature has been released in Stable channel and it should be available for most of the android devices.
