At its ongoing event in Hyderabad, Gionee President William Lu announced that the company plans on launching the Elife E8 in India this year. The camera-centric smartphone will be the successor to the Elife E7 launched in 2013.
While the Lu didn’t reveal an exact time frame, a report on Times of India claims that the Elife E8 could launch in June this year. As per rumors, the Elife E8 could flaunt a HD (1280×720 pixels) display with 258ppi, and under the hood is a 2.5GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM.
With photography capabilities its USP, the smartphone is expected to feature a 16-megapixel camera at the back with LED flash, supplemented with an 8-megapixel snapper up front. Additionally, it is expected to feature 16GB internal storage, microSD card slot, and on the software front, it will run on Android KitKat.
In comparison, the Elife E7 featured a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2GB/3GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB internal storage, 16-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front-facing snapper.
Additionally, the Chinese company also revealed that it plans on bringing new smartphones in its M series. These smartphones will feature big batteries and fast charging capabilities.
