Gionee has today launched the new flagship Elife S7, which was announced at MWC last month. The smartphone is wrapped in metal frames and typical of Gionee s S-series, the Elife S7 is also extremely thin at 5.5mm. The new smartphone succeeds the Elife S5.5, which started out as the slimmest phone in the world. While the Elife S5.5 was launched at Rs 22,999, it is now available on various e-commerce sites for as low as Rs 17,500. The new Elife S7, on the other hand, has been launched today with a price tag of Rs 24,999. Size is something Gionee is always obsessed with. As with Elife S5.5 the Elife S7 also sports an extremely compact formfactor with thickness of just 5.5mm. Weighing in at 126.6 grams, it is also lighter than its predecessor that weighs 133 grams.
The Gionee Elife S7 is equipped with a marginally larger 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1080p. Elife S5.5 came with a smaller 5-inch display, but the resolution remains the same.
Processor and RAM
Both the smartphones are powered by an octa-core chipset made by MediaTek. The Elife S5.5 featured a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core chipset, while the Elife S7 is powered by a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6752 octa-core chipset with 64-bit capability. Both the processors are paired with 2GB of RAM.
Both the phones come with a 13-megapixel auto-focus primary camera. But things are a tad different up front, with the Elife S7 boasting an 8-megapixel snapper, while the Elife S5.5 boasts a 5-megapixel selife camera.
This round is a tie with both the smartphones featuring 16GB internal storage. However, there is no microSD card slot to expand the storage.
Gionee Elife S7 comes with a larger 2,750mAh battery as opposed to the 2,300mAh battery pack in the Elife S5.5. The company claims that Elife S7 battery will easily suffice an entire day usage on a single charge.
The Elife S5.5 features only a single SIM card slot, and comes supports 3G connectivity. The new Elife S7, on the other hand, features dual-SIM card slots, and also supports LTE connectivity.
The Gionee Elife S7 runs on Android Lollipop whereas the Elife S5.5 is still stuck to Android KitKat. Elife S7 will also be based the latest Amigo 3.0 overlay.
