Back in December 2015, Gionee launched the Marathon M5 Plus in China and now it seems to be preparing for its India launch. The company hasn t made any official announcement yet, and the phone isn t listed on the company s website either but Mumbai-based mobile retailer Mahesh Telcom says the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus will hit Indian stores very soon with a price tag of Rs 26,999. The Marathon M5 Plus talking point is again the massive 5,020mAh battery and VoLTE and 4G support. Another talking point is the fingerprint scanner incorporated into the physical home button up front.
Gionee Marathon M5 Plus specifications and features: The phablet flaunts a 6-inch full-HD (1080×1920) pixels AMOLED display and is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
The Marathon M5 Plus also features a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, and 5-megapixel selfie camera. The phablet has a 5,020mAh battery and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE and VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB Type-C port. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop wrapped under Amigo 3.1 UI.
The Gionee Marathon M5, in comparison, was launched in India for Rs 17,999. It features a 5.5-inch 720p AMOLED display, 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6735 octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot to expand it. The smartphone is powered by an even bigger 6,020mAh battery.
The smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based on Amigo 3.1 UI.
Looking at the specification and features that the Marathon M5 Plus has to offer, the smartphone is likely to face tough competition in the likes of QiKU Q Terra and Lenovo Vibe X3 both of which are priced under Rs 20,000.
