Towards the end of last month, Gionee launched a bunch of smartphones in China, including the S11. Now, it is being reported that the Gionee S11 is likely to be launched in India sometime in January 2018.
While Gionee itself is yet to make any formal announcement, the S11 launch is being pegged for sometime at the end of January, Techook reports. The company has also reportedly said that the upcoming smartphone’s price will be in the sub-Rs 20,000 range. To put this into perspective, the S11 was launched in China with a price tag of RMB 1,799 (Rs 17,500 approximately).
As far as design is concerned, the Gionee S11 features a combination of glass and metal. There’s a frame on the sides that is made up of stainless steel, which the company claims is 27 percent stronger than aluminum.
Among the smartphone’s USPs is a near bezel-less 5.99-inch FullView display. This display boasts a full HD+ (2160×1080 pixels) resolution, and 18:9 aspect ratio. The other USP is what would interest smartphone photographers.
The Gionee S11 boasts four cameras. There’s a dual-camera setup at the back featuring 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel sensors. There’s a similar camera setup at the front as well. Both sets of cameras come with additional beautification features.
Gionee S11 specifications, features
The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Helio P30 octa-core SoC paired with Mali-G71 MP2 GPU, and 4GB of RAM. There is also 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card.
There’s a fingerprint sensor placed at the back, and making sure everything ticks is a 3,410mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs Android Nougat-based Amigo 5.0 UI.
Lately, Gionee has been on somewhat of a launch spree in India. Earlier this month, it launched the S10 Lite smartphone. While last month, it launched the F205, F6, Steel 3 smartphones, along with the M7 Power boasting a 5,000mAh battery. The reason behind this aggressiveness is linked to the Chinese company’s aim for the top-five spot in the Indian market by March 2018.
