Shortly after announcing the M2017 smartphone in China, Gionee has launched yet another smartphone called, the Gionee Steel 2. This new smartphone too is restricted to the Chinese market for now. Buyers can choose from two color variants — jazz gold and gold black, and the device is priced at RMB 1,299 (Rs 12,800 approximately). Pre-orders have started on Gionee online store in China. As reported by timesnews, the smartphone is powered by MediaTek’s MT6737 quad-core processor. The smartphone also comes with a big 4,000mAh battery which is also one of the main USPs of the phone. However, the company has not officially announced anything about the global launch dates.
Gionee Steel 2 specifications
Gionee Steel 2 features a 5-inch HD display with 720×1280 pixel resolution. The smartphone comes with 3GB RAM and will be available in two variants — 16GB and 32GB of internal storage. The internal storage is expandable using a microSD card.
On the camera front, the smartphone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front selfie-shooter. On the connectivity front the smartphone comes with 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS on board. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box wrapped under Amigo 3.5. The Gionee Steel 2 also comes with a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button up front. If launched in India around the same price range, the new Gionee Steel 2 will face competition from the likes of Asus Zenfone 3 Max and InFocus Epic 1, both of which are priced at Rs 12,999.
The Zenfone 3 Max ZC553KL variant sports a 5.5-inch full HD display covered with 2.5D curved glass on top. It is powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 430 processor paired with Adreno 505 GPU and 3GB of RAM. With 32GB of onboard storage, it comes with a microSD card slot for up to 128GB of additional storage. The smartphone has a 4,100mAh battery. The smartphone support dual-SIM, 4G LTE + VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v4.1, and GPS. On the software front, they runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with ZenUI 3.0 on top.
The InFocus Epic 1, on the other hand, features a 5.5-inch full HD display. It is powered by MediaTek s deca-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, expandable up to 128GB using a microSD card. With 16-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera, the smartphone is armed with a 3,000mAh battery with quick charge support. It is also equipped with the new USB Type-C port. It further includes a rear fingerprint scanner, dual SIM card slots and 4G LTE with VoLTE support.
