After launching the Elife S5.5 and Elife S5.1, two devices that temporarily held the crown for the thinnest smartphone in the world, Gionee is close to launching another unique smartphone. Called the W900, it is a flip phone with two full HD displays.
The flip phone, which looks quite similar to Samsung’s clam-shell smartphones in terms of design, was spotted on a certification site. Besides the clamshell design, the talking point are the 4-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) displays on the inside as well as the outside, boasting densities of 550ppi each.
The W900 is said to be powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM, and includes 16GB internal storage that can be further expanded using a microSD card. The smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, a 2,050mAh battery, and LTE connectivity. As for the size, it sports dimensions of 126.5×62.6×14.8mm, and weighs 172 grams. On the software front, it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.
The Gionee W900 is probably headed to China judging by the fact it was spotted in the country’s certification site. There is however no word on if the company plans on launching the smartphone in other markets.
