Online travel portal Goibibo has added a new feature that allows its users to log into the site using WhatsApp. The new method works when using the mobile web version of Goibibo, and will, of course, require the user to also have WhatsApp on their smartphone registered and logged in. The method does not require any OTPs, but users will have to send a pre-set message from WhatsApp to generate a magic link that leads them back to Goibibo logged into their account.
The procedure does away with OTPs and passwords, but the integration with WhatsApp requires it to be done only on a smartphone. When you use your smartphone’s internet browser to access Goibibo, you can click ‘sign in with WhatsApp’ on the site’s homepage. Following the steps will have you send a message to Goibibo over WhatsApp which will generate a magic link to instantly log into your account.
Anshuman Bapna, Chief Product Officer, Goibibo said, “We are a mobile-first company and we want to leverage the mobile ecosystem to its fullest to make online travel booking experience even more convenient. Given the ubiquitous usage of Whatsapp among Indians, it was a natural choice for us to build this feature to help people access the platform without the fuss of remembering complex passwords and punching in OTPs.”

Goibibo also integrates WhatsApp into its procedure for flight bookings and seat selections. The integration was rolled out in January this year and allows users to choose seats on flights booked on Goibibo directly through WhatsApp.
Goibibo is the lead product of the Ibibo group, which was founded in 2007. The company merged with MakeMyTrip in 2016 to form India’s biggest online travel company. The Goibibo branding and portal has been maintained and offers flight bookings, hotel, and holiday bookings, along with bus, train and car bookings across India and the world.
