The second day of this week has ended on a big note with Microsoft launching its Surface family of devices in India. The day started with Google’s big announcement for Android. Android Pie is official
Google finally announced the name of the next version Android, and it’s called Android Pie. The stable version of Android 9.0 Pie is now rolling out for Google Pixel devices across the world, which includes the Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL, Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL. Other phones are also expected to start rolling out the new software in the coming weeks and months.
OnePlus 6T coming in few months?
Looking at the previous trend, OnePlus is widely expected to launch the OnePlus 6T as its next flagship successor. The China-based smartphone maker OnePlus has not revealed any details about the timeline for the launch of its next flagship device. This may be because the company doesn’t want to go on record about its plans to launch the OnePlus 6T, which will be in line with its smartphone launch cycle.
Today, a OnePlus forum Assistant Head Moderator may have hinted at the upcoming 6T while replying to a comment on the forum.
Microsoft Surface Book 2, Surface Laptop launched in India
After a long wait, Microsoft finally launched the Surface Book 2 and Surface Laptop in India. These were globally announced in October last year. In terms of pricing, the Microsoft Surface Laptop prices start at Rs 86,999. Coming to Surface Book 2, the 13.5-inch base model with Core i5 CPU starts at Rs 137,999. The Core i7 model with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD is priced at Rs 185,999. The variant with standard 16GB RAM, Core i7 and option for 512GB or 1TB SSD is priced at Rs 222,999, and Rs 257,999 respectively. The 15-inch model starts at Rs 222,999 for the 256GB SSD variant while the 512GB and 1TB SSD storage variants are priced at Rs 295,999, and Rs 258,999 respectively.
Ola Cabs plans to enter UK market
Ola Cabs today announced its plans to enter the UK market. As part of the announcement, the company shared that it has received the license to operate in Greater Manchester, and South Wales. It will launch its services in South Wales “within the next month”. Ola Cabs claims that it will be the only app-based ride-hailing service in the UK to provide the option of Black Cabs, and PHVs (Private Hire Vehicles) to its users.
Flipkart Freedom Sale announcement
Flipkart is ready to take on Amazon on a pre-Independence Day sale, slated to take place from August 10-12. The Flipkart Freedom Sale will continue for a 72-hour period with offers across products in electronics, gadgets, fashion and more categories. While most of the deals will be detailed once the sale goes live, Flipkart has teased a few of its offers and deals. The lead deal is a 10 percent cashback offer on Citibank credit cards, which is applicable on all purchases during the sale period.
Airtel gets extra 20GB benefit on Rs 399 postpaid plan
Airtel takes on Vodafone its tweaked Rs 399 postpaid plan. Customers will get an additional 20GB of data for a year on the plan. The Airtel MyPlan Infinity Rs 399 plan currently offers unlimited calls (local and STD), which extends to usage even while on national roaming, along with 20GB of data on 4G/3G/2G per month. Under the new offer, the company will offer an additional 20GB of data.
