Google’s Glasses were the topic of discussion on Thursday at Google I/O as the search giant announced as many as six new apps for its wearable device, Reuters reports. These apps or ‘Glassware’, as Google calls them, include the likes of CNN, Elle, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and Evernote. Also Read - Hate speech drops by almost half on Facebook, claims company
These apps aren’t simply mobile apps ported to the Glasses, but completely built from ground up keeping in mind the smaller sized display and the way the device is used as compared to smartphones.
For instance, the CNN app allows users to choose what kind of news alerts they want to receive and at what time of the day. They can then read or listen to an audio clip or even choose to watch a short video clip. Fashion app Elle lets users read features and short blogs about their favorite fashion topics.
On the social network front, in addition to the already available Google+, users will now also be able to use Facebook and Twitter. Facebook lets users share photos taken through the Glass, while Twitter lets users tweet using their voice. Tumblr, on the other hand, lets users select the kind of updates they want to see, while Evernote allows you to send specific notes like the grocery list to your Glasses, so you can access them when you need.
