Google has just rolled out a new update for its ARCore app adding support for a number of new and upcoming devices. The new update brings the version number of the app to version 1.5 so that users can be sure that they are on the latest update. For the uninitiated, ARCore is an augmented reality framework that Google has developed. App developers can use the framework to build and power their AR-based apps. The framework uses motion tracking, environmental understanding and light estimation with the help of the rear camera to put the virtual content in the real world. According to an APK teardown by Android Police, it has been revealed a list of new and even unreleased devices that will come with support for ARCore version 1.5. If you are unaware about what an APK teardown is then here interested users with Android app development knowledge take the installation file of an Android app (in this case ARCore v1.5) and then extract the parts of the file to dig for references to upcoming features or hidden features that the app developers are working on. The new devices that ARCore will support include Asus ROG Phone, Huawei P20 Lite, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Nokia Pheonix, Nokia 9, OnePlus 6T, Razer Phone, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy Tab S3, Galaxy J5, Galaxy J5 Pro, Galaxy J7, Galaxy J7 (2017), Sony Xperia X, Vivo V1809A, Vivo Nex B, Vivo X21i, and three unknown devices.
These names do mean that ARCore now supports these devices. However, if you have one of the devices from the above list and can t find ARCore in Google Play Store then you should take note that it can take anywhere from some hours to a few days before the Play Store enables access to ARCore app for these devices.
