Two years ago, Google introduced Google Assistant, and it has a place in smartphones, tablets, and smart speakers as well. Google, on its blog, mentioned that half of the interactions include voice and touch, and it is now giving the Assistant a makeover with an aim to make things easier for users. The update has been rolling out for both Android and iOS platforms, and because it is a phased rollout, it may take a couple of days before you see the changes. So what kind of visual changes are we talking about there? Well if you ask for weather, you will see bold text and large visuals showing you the local forecast. If you re looking for a place to eat, you will see pictures of local restaurants. And if you have smart home devices such as bulbs connected, and you ask Google Assistant to turn it on, you will see buttons and sliders to fine-tune the color and brightness settings. On the Assistant screen, you ll see a new swipe-up gesture that will give you an overview of the day. Earlier, this screen would appear by opening the Assistant, then tapping the little box with icon with three marks above it. Now, you no longer need to hunt for that button, and can simply swipe up to see your upcoming calendar reminders, updates on commute route, the weather, how the schedule looks like, and more.

Google is also rolling out some developer tools which will allow companies to take better advantage of the phone s display. For instance, Fitstar will offer GIFs of different exercises to help you work out, Starbucks can offer thumbnails of recommended menu items, whereas third-party developers will sell you digital goods with voice interactions. There are just a few things that you are likely to see over the coming days on Google Assistant.
