After a day in May dedicated to all mothers, now it’s time for the fathers. Father’s Day is celebrated worldwide on the third Sunday of June, though countries like Germany for example, celebrate it in May. Not surprisingly, Google has got into celebratory mode and has dedicated a cute little animated doodle to all the fathers in the world.

The animate doodle features the letters forming the word Google. In between, the letter O changes to depict different fathers. These include a male penguin with its egg, a male fox, cat with its litter, and finally a man with his son. Hovering the mouse over the doodle pops up the message ‘Happy Father’s Day’, and Google is also letting you share the doodle on popular social networks.

A day dedicated to fathers became a concept in the US in early 20th century. What started out as a day to complement Mother’s Day, has since become widely accepted as a day dedicated to fathers.

While in India, Father’s Day may not be a public holiday, it is still celebrated with gutso. Various companies have hyped the day by selling specialized greeting cards, while most schools have various activities scheduled for students.
