Google announced the 2018 version of its Chromecast streaming dongle earlier this month with the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. The latest Chromecast media dongle upgrade can be considered as the third-generation of the Google Chromecast. Google has updated the device with support for 60 frames per seconds (fps) streaming at 1080p, but it does not support 4K resolution. In addition, the new ‘Chromecast 3’ dongle supports Chromecast Audio technology as well.
The ‘Chromecast 3’ is now available through Flipkart at Rs 3,499. Google and Flipkart are offering some introductory schemes on the purchase of Chromecast 3. Consumers will get a free one-year subscription to Sony Liv and six months of ad-free streaming from Gaana. It is available in a single black color.
Additionally, as a part of the ongoing Flipkart Festive Dhamaka Days sale users will be able to avail 10 percent instant discount using Axis Bank debit or credit cards for the payment. There is a Rs 100 cashback offer from Flipkart’s own PhonePe wallet as well.
Google has changed the design a little with the new Chromcast 3. Now, there is Google’s ‘G’ logo in the center. Users can simply plug the Google Chromecast into their TV’s HDMI port and it lets you cast TV shows, movies, games and more with your Android smartphones, Google devices, iPhone, iPad, PC, Mac and Windows laptop.
The third-generation Google Chromecast 2018 is claimed to be 15 percent faster than the 2nd generation Chromecast dongle. Google has updated the connectivity features on the Chromecast too. While the HDMI interface remains the same, the dongle now supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies for Wi-FI. This should help smoother streaming. The device has a Micro-USB connector for power which is rated for 5V/ 1A power delivery, and there is an optional Ethernet adapter.
