Google is reportedly working on a virtual health and fitness ‘Coach’ for its wearables. According to Android Police, Google is focusing more on WearOS of its smartwatches, and it is developing a “health and wellbeing coach” called “Google Coach”, although the name hasn’t been finalized yet.

Google is said to have a lot of ideas in the pipeline for its under-development “Google Coach” which will provide helpful health-focused suggestions for users. It is reported to be an all-day health assistant, and not just an exercise tracker. It will proactively monitor health and fitness data to recommend you workout routines, track your progress, and recommend alternatives, noted report. Other than that it may also be able to help monitor your nutrition and recommend foods.

“For example, you might be able to get a healthy order recommendation for a meal out based on your location and patterns. If you prefer to cook at home, Coach could instead generate a weekly meal plan and shopping list, and beam it all right to your email. Google suggests that Coach might even be able to use your calendar data to figure out how many meals it needs to plan,” noted report.

As per the report, Google Coach name could change at launch but as for now it is internally known as ‘Project Wooden’. The initial rollout is said to be on Wear OS, but Android users will reportedly be able to use it on phones in some capacity. The Coach service could also expand to Android TV, Google Home, and other devices in the future.

Anyway, till date, Google is using ‘Google Fit‘ app to track such data. It is not clear if the Google Coach will replace the Google Fit at launch or not.
