As Google is all set to shut the Reader service, it now seems to be focusing on its another reading application Google Currents. The company has updated Current app for iOS to version 2.1 which will now include important updates like audio playlist support for editions, pinch-to-zoom on photos along with bug fixes and more. The Google Currents app for iOS will now work at par the Android version with the new feature additions. To begin with, the application has now added support for Audio Playlist for publication-wise content editions, which will now allow users to hear audio clips easily with the app. This will work as a supplement to the in-built playback feature given in the app. Another interesting and useful update is the support for vertical pagination for articles. One can easily scroll articles vertically, and can now zoom in and out pictures on a page using pinch-to-zoom picture feature. Readers on the application earlier missed this option which will now enhance their visual experience. This apart the update includes some bug fixes and interface based improvements.
Google Currents application offers magazine-like editions of several magazines which can also be saved for reading in offline mode. The editions include full length, in-depth articles, videos, fine photography, and slideshows of various articles including news stories and other stories. Currents also comes with support for as many as 44 languages via Google translate technology.
