Google is celebrating International Women’s Day by dedicating a doodle that depicts the many facets of a woman. The Google homepage has a colourful logo which pictorially showcases women in many occupations like scientists, chef, teacher and even an astronaut.

Celebrated on March 8 every year, International Women’s Day  brings focus on celebrating the spirit of women and their economic, political, and social achievements. Google’s innovative doodle celebrates women in different field of expertise, particularly as a scientist, an IT professional, a judge, a horticulturist, an athlete, a doctor, an astrologer, an artist, an astronaut, a nanny, a chef, a musician, a firefighter and even a writer.

The birth of this day dates back to the early 1900s when oppression and inequality was egging women to become more vocal and active in campaigning for change. The first National Woman’s Day was more or less a political event, an initiative of Socialist Party of America, who observed it across the United States on February 28.
