With this update, the Android app of Google Drive has received some performance improvements to boost the functions and operation of features across the app. Moreover, it a new file sharing feature which will enable users to stream video files or share video clips with others. However, this particular feature will work on Android v3.0 Honeycomb or higher. Apart from these, the presentation viewer in the app will now support pinch to zoom enhancing visibility as well as ease of use. On the other hand the all new preview feature in Google Drive will allow you to get a quick preview of various file types. You can select one or more files and click the preview button, or press ‘p’ on your keyboard to see a preview. This feature will save you the time of opening each and every file while flipping through these to find the one you need. Moreover, an interesting part is that you can also preview videos as well as photos using this feature.
The preview window, once opened, will feature all file types which can be seen by clicking on the arrows given on the sides of the window. While the side arrows will navigate you to all other file types featuring your selected files categorized as per their genres, you can also see multiple pages of a file by scrolling up and down. Shortcuts like zoom in, zoom out or print also come handy in the preview window. The ‘share’ option given in this preview window will allow sharing of the file, and the ‘view all’ feature will reveal thumbnails of all the files in doc.
Google has started rolling out the update, though might take time to be available for all users.
