At the Google I/O 2017 event held in May, Google had previewed its custom job search feature called Google for Jobs . Today, the tech giant has officially announced rolling out Google for Jobs to all developers and site owners. Google says that this initiative is aimed at helping both job seekers and employers at the same time. This feature doesn t come as a separate app or sorts, but is directly integrated to Google Search. Google for Jobs collates the online job postings from different websites and job portals, and brings it under one umbrella. For example, if you type relevant keywords such as retail jobs , a preview of job listings related to the search query will show up as Google Search results. The preview will list display the job profile, employer s name, location job type, job portal and the posting date will be displayed. One can tap on the job preview to expand it for a full description.
Google, in its blog post says that this feature will help employers as their job listings will show up in a more prominent place in Search results. Since this feature will allow job seekers to filter their search queries, employers will more likely receive applicants for the job they ve posted. For employers to add their job listings to Google for Jobs, they need to add Job Posting structured data to their website, which Google has detailed in this post. Websites which have over 100,000 job postings can make changes by using the High Change Rate feature on Google for Jobs. Google says that those companies which have their job listings on places like LinkedIn, Monster and Facebook are eligible to appear on the search results as well. Google for Jobs looks to provide a much cleaner and de-cluttered platform for job searches. What happens now is a long list of jobs appearing with hardly one or two matching with your query. Hopefully, the filters on Google for Jobs will indeed help in bringing the required job listing in the Search results.
